We were so excited to finally stand this Veltex Sign today at aaaLakeside Storage Museum. These are very rare signs as Veltex was a small Gas/Oil company in Idaho with about 150 Stations in Idaho and another 150 Stations in the North West. Most of the signs were Strip Signs so we are grateful to have found this one. It's a little rough as it flew out of the back of the truck it was being hauled in on the Interstate after the guy we bought it from bought it. He never put it up & we found it on the ground under a trailer at his place. The cool property line pole is a whole different find and story & the fun remains in the Hunt.
Nice ! I have never heard nor have I seen a property line pole . Probably made some folks mad at one time eh ? ingenious !
Actually the property line poles were used before the 70s when it was allowable for businesses to put their sign on their property and overhang the city sidewLks to get better visible exposure from the streets. That all changed as Govt got more possessive of people's private property where they simply have a sidewalk easement but land owners own the property, have to maintain it and pay taxes on it, but can't use it. That's what we voted for with these politicians! I won't go on but would like to.
We have 2 property line poles displaying signs at aaaLakeside Storage Museum and have 3 more that we haven't stood up yet. They were pretty common in the olden days and very practical. We just saw one last week that is still standing in Oakley Utah at an old Sinclair Station. I took a pix because the pole is just like the two we haven't stood up yet.
Very nice addition:)
Rattletrap do you have a museum ? What state are you in ? Always love your posts !!

It is at the Storage Park & everyone is invited to come and enjoy it and take all the pix they want & post in Abt any way they want if they will give us credit. We invite everyone to check out our website and click the Museum button. Since we are always adding new stuff the site doesn't include everything yet. Thx for asking
