Don't know a lot about this one. Cannot find anything like it on the internet. I am sure it is authentic because I got it from the estate of an elderly woman who would not tolerate anything but the best. It measures 9 inches by 15 1/2 inches and has hand painted light/dark pink poppies with heavy gilding as decoration. Signature on the front looks like A liz. I am curious about what the pattern is--if there were other pieces in the set--that kind of thing. If there are not any others like it on the internet, I guess it wasn't very popular!
The L.R.L beneath the Limoges denotes "Lazeyras, Rosenfeld, and Lehman" - I cannot see the artist signature on the front clearly but it may be LUC, one of the Limoges artists' of the period - estimate 1920's
oops, I meant above the "Limoges France", beneath the crown mark
Ah ha! I identified the star. That means the maker is Latrille Freres factory and that fact the signature is an overmark means this was done by a professional china painter at that factory. The factory produced goods from 1899-1913. Also note in the new closeup of the poppies, you can see raised lines of gold as well as incised lines. I never noticed that before. Wonder if that would also help identify this?
