This is something we had at the estate sale and was only displayed. We where trying to get someone to identify it and most answers where metal detector, but no chord around it, strange.
Anybody know what this is ?

It is definitely a metal detector, with the chord missing. Sears is known for selling and making metal detectors. This seems to maybe be from the 60s or 70s, maybe earlier. Although I think they´ve stopped creating their own and just selling from other producers. Because of its age, the chord has most likely been ruined. I think it's a homemade piece, not an off the shelf detector from Sears.

Yeah, that could be right as well TubeAmp, They could've used parts from an official sears piece to create a homemade version.
Taking the cover off the control box may help solve the mysteries.

Just added 2 more pics with cover off and also has a paper label, all I can make out is 260.
Plastic battery compartment reads, ( Walter L. Schott Co. Los Angeles ).
Holy cow man, just added new battery and put on headphones, awesome metal detector, different discriminating sounds.
And you found the missing wire.

TubeAmp, no missing wire, it's all built inside the plastic tube.
