    Hello!

I hope someone can help me with this as well. The glass decanter and ashtray above are the first collectables I have purchased (apart from a few diecast cars). I bought them earlier this year in Perth, Western Australia because as a design student, I really appreciate their form.

They both seem uniquely mid-century German or Scandinavian with their pure solid forms. The decanter I am asking about now is made up of a few very pure forms. Its characterised by a round-based cone, topped with a cylindrical neck that splays out to form the lip and spout. This is in amber glass. The top is a perfect disk with a radius edge. Where the top meets the stopper itself, there is a radius of similar, well, radius to the top, but inverted. This top, along with the somewhat imperfect handle are black opaque glass.

The decanter is relatively small at about 120mm high including the top and 157mm in diameter at its largest point, 120mm at its base and 34mm at the neck. The glass is about 4mm thick and of a good quality. As with the ashtray, there are no makers' marks on it, nor have I been able to find any information about it. I bought them together as a set, so I'm assuming they're related.

If anyone can share any information about this decanter (and/or ashtray), namely its country and years of origin, designer and/or maker, possible value, along with anything else that might be interesting, please share it with me. I would appreciate it greatly!

    Thank you!

Are there any etched marks on bottom of glass? I am getting a Belgian Val St. Lambert vibe off these pieces. I had a Deco decanter set that had these same black tops and a conical shape. The typically use an etched marking on the base. If not, try czechoslovakian deco glass. Hope this helps a little! Deborah/ Gypsies Antiques Austin

Thanks so much for your comment Deborah! It sadly doesn't have any etched on it, bottom or otherwise, making the identification very difficult. I'll do a bit of research on Czechoslovakian deco glass though, maybe that will yield some results. Thanks again!
