Shell shaped vase on a slender pedestal all sitting on an ornate clear glass foot. The spatter/marbling is between a yellow inner layer and a clear outer layer.
This décor has been seen on distinctive Welz shapes such as the 'Mini
Jardinière on a Pedestal' so I do think it's Welz in spite of it having been attributed to another maker previously.
Pic. 3 shows two other Welz shapes in known Welz décors on the same distinctive clear foot. I'm happy to be corrected if I'm wrong.
Height 17.5 cm./7 inches
Nice!!!
Thanks Lee :-)
I agree that the piece is Welz. The previous attribution, IMHO, was incorrect and not really supported by any valid research.
Thank you, Craig, glad to have your view.
Oh wow Peggy... The shape is fantastic!!!
Thank you so much, Rick, your enthusiasm is infectious......
You're welcome Peggy. Every so often something comes along that excites me... This is one of them!
wonderful and beautiful!!
SEAN, thanks for the lovely comment.
I love the picture of the three together - the delicate-looking clear glass work against those beautiful colors is lovely. Welz's work was just so varied - it continually amazes me!
Thanks, Michelle, and of course there's so much in this country :)
