Can anyone shed some light on this for me.
This was about to get taken to the dump, but I couldn't let that happen.
I'm not familiar with vintage sewing machines so I would appreciate any help in identifying this.

    The serial number is G3017935.
Its in pretty good shape but needs a belt and some hinges.

    Thanks,

Great piece. It's a treadle probably about 100+ years old.

it's a Singer 66 with the decals known as Red Eye. From a batch of 50,000 commissioned June 12 1913. It has the rear attaching accessories (sometimes called back clamping, although they don't clamp) which were common at the time but harder to find now.

Great info, Thanks to you both...
They don't build stuff like this anymore. I'm amazed on how after all this time, the machine still moves smooth like butter.
I'm going to look for a belt and some hinges and see if I can get it all back together and working.

The hinges look like they're hanging on the back of the machine? Round bits. :) For others reference - the best way to remove a treadle from the cabinet is to undo the little grub screws, which are under the back of the machine when you tip it back, that hold the machine to the hinge pins. It's not necessary to remove the hinges from the cabinet.
