Restoring great grandmother's Western Laundry cast iron stove. Has traveled from southern Virginia to SouthCentral Texas after spending a few decades rusting in an old barn. Soaking in vinegar and then wire brushing it is working well, though going slow. Labor of love. I am searching for information about the possible age and maker (Western Foundry??) I am told my great grandmother used it, and my grandma when she was little to warm water for laundry and to cook meals on in the basement while doing chores. My great aunt says they've burned both coal and wood chunks in it. My grandmother was the baby and was born in 1931. Some have suggested the casting marks are putting this as about 125 yrs old or so. Thoughts?
Great piece.
i also have a cast iron wood burning furnace. it's a bit rusty but not so bad. any tips/tricks in trying to restore it ?
