I first saw this piece at my husband's grandmother's house. She received it from an aunt long ago. I'm not sure how old this is, or who made it. It is 2 pieces: the aquarium and the stand. There are no markings or manufacturer name anywhere to be found on it. I believe it is wrought iron or cast iron... it is very heavy. I would love to find out more about this piece!
This is very similar to my aquarium and stand made by the Klepper Iron Foundry in Covington, Ky with a patent date of 1882. This stand originally had eagle finials on the top corners of the tank and swivel plant holder on the lower corners of the stand.
Here's my stand:
thats a dandy one
Sorry, I don't think my link above worked. Maybe this will work: <a href="http://s1118.photobucket.com/albums/k610/davrx/Jewel/?action=view&current=AQUARIUM671AA.jpg" target="_blank"><img src="http://i1118.photobucket.com/albums/k610/davrx/Jewel/AQUARIUM671AA.jpg" border="0" alt="Photobucket"></a>
Sorry, I keep selecting the wrong format. Maybe third time is the charm:
