I have something similar. With that long handle I would think it is a tool for turning wood on a lathe.

What you have is an old Screwdriver, referred to as a "Turnscrew", back in the day. These came in various length's depending on the job, and trade that used them. Short ones for Gunsmith's, etc. and long ones for cabinet makers etc. The reason it is so long, is so that it can reach a screw head that the arm and hand could not. Google "Turnscrew" and you will also see most came with a flat pear shaped handle. I have never seen one with so much handle length as yours, but it could have came from the maker this way, or been fabricated and replaced.
