In the first pic I had already started taking the old fabric off. (I don't know why the before pic flipped.) I found was that this was the original fabric and was attached with small nails instead of staples. As you see in the pic the nails are of varying sizes. The inside of the seat is made of spring coils held up with fabric straps wrapped around a wire frame and sewn into place with lots of string. That frame is then attached to the chair with coils attached to the sides of the chair. Each of the legs had broken pieces but I had all the parts and was able to glue them all back into place. The breaks were all at points where two pieces would have been glued together originally. So it seems that just age had worn the glueing down.
I got this chair from a family friend who in turn got it from an elderly friend's estate when they passed away.
I've been trying to figure out approximately how old it is and haven't found a chair like it.
