I found this in my aunt's angel collection and believe she purchased it from an antique shop in the 1980's sometime. I was told it was made of wood pieced together and carved into this image. The tag on it, from the antique shop, said the frame was gold filled. I am looking for any information about this type of pin and also any ideas as to it's age, origin, maker.
Thank so very much!

Rather than wood, I think it is striped jasper like this stone:

Question is why this cameo was carved on assembled pieces of stone!
Victorian era :-)
It is a lovely brooch, thanks for sharing, katyrose. :)
Thanks for all the comments. I still haven't been able to find anything on line that is similar. Will keep trying.
I agree with kyratango that it looks like a jasper, with the striations being natural & not an indication of piecing.
Does the hinge show any signs of being a replacement? These long pin stems that extend past the edge of the brooch & the C clasp are typical of earlier Victorian items, but the hinge is a bit more modern, so age picture is a bit muddled. My overall impression is 1880 - 1900, but would not want to swear it.
The subject is a well known one to cameo collectors:
