Just found in Grandpa's garage - is it suppose to be bent this way?

Please excuse my house shoes! We found this yesterday as were were cleaning out the garage. I am assuming it is a scythe sickle or something similar. Grandpa and Grandma did have a garden and an apple orchard. Because I'm guessing about the tools, I really don't know how they would have been used. I could also use some advice about cleaning/preserving and displaying these tools.
