We drove every road and every street in a bunch of old farm towns in Idaho before we saw this majestic pump sitting along side a barn. Finding the owner became the next challenge, but the fun is in the hunt and that just extends the challenge a step farther. The pump shows its age, but so do I so we make a good pair.

Awesome you going to restore it.

We put all the pumps we buy in the aaaLakeside Storage free museum and generally don't restore them. It seems that most people love them just the way we find them and the patina paint and dings in the sides, etc. seem to bring back memories to many of us older folks. The pumps we restore are usually the ones that we have purchased partly restored already so we just finish the job. Since the Collection is mostly outside in public view, the paints & decals have a limited life anyway.

It is great to find them with ad glass still intact. Mostly the little guys with The Red Rider 500 shot BB guns turn the ad glass to powder. As I recall, I was a terror with my Red Rider sure shot rifle! I'm soooo sorry now that I'm old!

Yeah but if pulled into a gas station back in 1962 and saw a pump all Rusty I don't think I would have bought gas there . Bad gas I would have figured. Now you know I'm just pulling your leg. Nice find and patina is nice.

Coke1234 if I pulled in to a gas station with a pump like this in the 50s-60s I would know that I was an idiot for not buying gas in the city where gas was cheaper, stations & pumps were nicer, service was better, & I was smarter! If I saw a pump like this the gas price would likely have been near double its value in the city; maybe nearly .40/gal!!! Plus it would be watered down with dirt & water to boot.

Where did you end of finding it exactly in Idaho and did you ever get it?

      Blackmansir,
Actually we did finally find the old lady that owns the pump and she had already sold the other one she had and her kids had a fit over it so she promised not to sell this one. It actually looks pretty cool where it is and is not in restorable shape so it's no real loss not to get it. We got some other very cool stuff in this little backwoods town and still have a cole of trucks we bought left to go pick . That's our next story to tell!
