This recent acquisition of a hard to find EAPG cake stand is unfortunately worthless due to poor packing methods. The shipper actually forced this 10-3/4" salver into a 9-1/2" x 10-1/2" box; the sides of the box were pushed out and noticeably rounded. I was surprised the plate wasn't broken into tiny bits. Still I can use it as an educational example to share the beauty of the design, as I was able to successfully epoxy the pieces together; these images don't show the large chip that's missing from the stem. So, still looking for an intact version tho' I can enjoy this as a display.

Really to bad for such beautiful piece, not many shipper are professional wrapper, they should give the task to person know to double box and use the right size.

I know exactly how you feel. It breaks your heart when old beautiful things are needlessly broken, because some thinks glass is very strong.

I'm embarrassed to admit I packed and shipped some items very badly when I was first selling on eBay, had to refund a cookie jar and a set of dishes. Felt terrible about it. A huge learning moment. :(

Seeing this beautiful cake plate broken is tragic, I'm glad you were able to restore it to some of its former glory anyway, it does look really lovely.

I would contact the shipper and let them know was displeased with the packing methods. I sell glass all the time and I NEVER PACK IT SO CARELESSLY. It is a terrible thibg when something so beautiful is destroyed by stupidity.

I contacted the shipper/seller about the broken delivery. The response concerning shipping was that they had several broken shipments recently and don't understand how curriers can be so careless.

thank you nutsabotas6 : ) me to; I do try to be very cautious and selective in evaluating sellers, and I always specify my request for careful packing. I could go to action every weekend and never have the opportunities available online; plus imagine the cost and time involved. Tho' it is still most disheartening when a once treasured heirloom is destroyed in an instant.

patience has paid off... I hadn't realized it has been so long tho'. Today I received my replacement cake stand for the one picture here that arrived broken. Very happy that to have one arrive safely... : )
