This was a great find last year. This sign hung above the counter and was used to hold bags of different sizes. Put your bubble gum or chips into a size bag that was needed. The sprite boy decal from the 40's does fade over time. So far so good ... Just keep it out of the sun.
Can you think of something that you bought back in the 50's from a corner store in a paper bag with 5 different sizes available ? Remember the screen door with the push plate coca cola sign . Now it's one plastic size bag that fits all and no mom and pop store . Except in some rural areas maybe.
"Reg.U.S.Pat.Off." 1941-1962 date of sign. I think the sprite boy was stopped being used around 1957 .
Thanks ejw
Cool piece to find. I will tell you this though, Sprite boy was not introduced until 1949.
Great sign and helluva garage. Looks like a fun place to hang out.
Signaholic .....Thanks for the update on the sprite boy date.
Nice sign Coke1234. Anytime you want to swap garages...let me know.
Actually the elf like boy began his career as early as 1942. Some early stuff can be found in Petretti's gude. He is mostly assosiated however with the 1950's advertising.
Edisonfan... Thanks and it's taken many years to acquire all this stuff . Buying and selling my way and having a blast. Making money on the side is just icing on the cake.
Daddy -nobucks ...thanks also , yeah my wife's allways yelling "what the hell you doing out there" nut- in honey !!!
Gotta say "WOW" great looking collections and placement of how they're displayed...Kudos
Kerry10456...Placement always figures into what I can buy. Usually I sell something to make room for a new acquired piece. That's why I like smaller signs . Thanks for your comment.
Just ran across this one while doing my regular eBay BIN search:

What a great display ! love it a little piece of the past all in one room
Daddy - nobucks ...see how faded the Sprite boy is on the Ebay listing. That decal doesn't do well outside or direct sun light. Nothing like porcelain to keep it's colors.
Yeah really shows just how nice of condition yours is in.
What an awesome display! Every piece is well thought out and the place looks pristine like a new car showroom! I love it.
Sorry, I said it was introduced in 1949, actually Sprite Boy was first used in 1943.
Manikin .... Thanks for the appreciation and love . The old stuff just feels good to be around. I guess I'm car crazy and nuts.
Rattletrap...thanks for the the kind words and don't have nearly as much as your collection. Have to see it someday.
Thanks for all the love Sanhardin.
Way cool Sign!
