Cast Iron spring type scale with porcelain face

Hi,
I'm searching for information on this cast iron scale with porcelain face that I recently bought at a junk shop. What I would like to know is; when was it made? how was it used? and what is it worth? Scale appears to be in fair condition with some paint/finish loss. It works fine and was accurate in my tests.
