Tremont Watch Company

The Tremont Watch Company of Boston, Massachusetts was in business from 1864 to late 1866 when it moved to Melrose and changed its name to The Melrose Watch Company, late 1866-1868.
In 1864, A. L. Dennison thought that if he could produce a good movement at a reasonable price, there would be a market for it. In 1865, the first movements were ready. They were key-wind on the movement and key-set, using the winding key placed on the post holding the minute & hour hands on the dial, 7-15 jewels, and engraved on the movement, Tremont Watch Co. The very early dials were not marked, later they were marked, Tremont Watch Co. Boston.
This is a 15 jewel, Tremont Watch Co. Boston, marked both on movement & dial, manufactured in 1865.
After the company moved to Melrose, the movements were marked, Melrose Watch Co., but the dials remained marked, Tremont Watch Co.
