I have had these two lamps for over 25 years. I got them from a family friend after she passed away and I am guessing she bought them in the 40's or 50's. The tops and bases appear to be brass and the main body of the lamps are made from a cylinder of glass hand-painted with ivy leaves and gold vines. They are around 30" tall and have very old, cloth covered cords with big brown plastic plugs. I used to use them when I was in high school in my room, so I know they worked 23 years ago but I've just been carrying them through life with me since then. They used to have giant beige silk circular lamp shades, but they were ruined and discarded many years ago.
I would love to know who the manufacturer is. The only labels on the laps are Universal Underwriters Inc. labels and my understanding is that those just certified that the parts were inspected. The labels do have an issue number and they say "Charleton" under the issue number.
Im Pretty sure the maker may be Charleston . zhave you tried googling charleston lamps. This is the first lamp I have seen that reminds me of my lamp because of th vines, and the large flat knob near the neck of the lamp. Good luck
