Hello to all,
This picture/poster measures 21 3/4 X 14 3/4 was given to my Daddy
in 1970 from his Aunt in South Carolina. I remember him telling me that this picture hung in her living room when he was a youngster and he had a crush on the "coke girl". Many years later he told his Aunt this story so she gave him the picture. My Great Aunt and Daddy are long gone now and I wish I knew more about this picture. After my Daddy's passing this picture was put in the attic for the past 20 years. When I found it last year I couldn't believe the shape it was in, The frame was still good shape but the glass had been shattered along with water damage. I have a few questions. My question is, first the history of it and second, can this be professionally restored and would it be worth it other than for sentimental reasons. Thank you
Looks to be a 1914 poster 16x22. This one is really rare and might fetch a
Good price to the right person. Condition is bad with water stains but nice to see.
Btw...love CW because you never know what will show up. To answer your restoration question, yes it can be touched up and fetch a higher price if done right.
GT3- send me your email and I'll send you some information on restoration places.
ghobbs50@yahoo.com Thank you for the info
Here are a couple links to help you gauge authenticity and condition. This is a paper sign, and I see some corrugate on the back, not sure if that's the frame backing or maybe it's been glued/taped down to an old piece of cardboard. It looks to be a trimmed piece. A restorer should be able to confirm if print is right for the period and whether it should/can be cleaned up. Looks right but hard to be sure based on the pics.
