I bought this item at an estate sale, it has been in the family for over 60 years, it is pretty nice collectible, I don't know what part of the country it is, I was told maybe Northern California.

I believe it was used for water flow from a river, and pan for gold. But can be used as a table or decor.

I did some panning & we built a rocker. You build them with a piece of canvas on the bottom & tack the slats on top of that. Ever so often, you take the slats & canvas off, burn them & pan the ashes to get the real fine dust. As old as this appears, I can easily see where there is no evidence of the tacks.
