- Minute Tapioca was first introduced to the public in 1894, incorporated in 1913 in Massachusetts, and registered in 1922. - The brand was acquired by the Postum Cereal Company in 1926 and subsequently sold to General Foods in 1929. -- The "Minute Tapioca" brand was acquired by Kraft Foods in 1990 and the brand is still produced by Kraft Foods/Mondelez International (Altria Group). -- Tapioca is a starch extracted from cassava root, a species native to the North Region of Brazil, but which spread throughout the South American continent. The plant was carried by Portuguese and Spanish explorers to most of the West Indies, and the continents of Africa and Asia, including the Philippines and Taiwan. It is cultivated worldwide, used as a staple food in many world regions, and is used as a thickening agent in various foods.
I want to borrow this, I have a couple girls that can't boil water...they would starve if the microwave oven was never invented :-)
