I picked up this nice little watercolor courtesy of Savers this morning. At first I thought it was a print, but my trusty magnifying glass revealed the detailed brush work. The large cathedral is the focal point with a few figures walking along the cobble stone streets. The label on the back says Stuttgart's Leisten Buhl Hauptstatterstr.8 . A quick online search turned up nothing about this framing shop. There is no signature on the painting. It was loose in the frame and required a couple of small nails to secure it. I checked the back before a buttoned it up. No artist written there either. Most likely a mass produced tourist piece but still beautifully done. -Mike-

      Here's the translation :

The business was founded in 1949 by my father Erwin Buhl. The first was in the Gäschäftslokal Hauptstätter Strasse 8 - then known as "Schwäbische Hüttenwerke" popularly. The company "strips Buhl" was in its original conception by the year 1971. Under my leadership, the Manfred Buhl GmbH was founded and existed as a Heimwerkermarkt among others in Breuninger market by the year 2001. Since 1992 and until today the branch is to Rathauspassage in Stuttgart. The range is now specializing in hobby and art supplies and stationery and school supplies. Recently, the postal services are offered.

.....so an art supply store but I still wonder who painted the picture ??

Nice one mike, maybe you will have to unframed to reveal the artist.
Sometimes it's necessary, but as you know not always successful.
It's happen many time they cover the name with the matting.

Thanks Alan :)...it was almost falling out of the frame when I got it so I was able to look under the mat and the back. Nothing there I'm afraid :(
