Hi! I rescued this pretty Coke ice chest (doesn't appear to have had a compressor in it) from our church basement. They were getting ready to take it to the curb!
Anyway, any idea what model/year this might be? The only markings I can find are on the inside of the chest. CC-10-47. Was thinking that the 47 could be the year 1947?
Everything appears to be original. Looks like it might be missing a part on the back (cap catcher?) and possibly soome pieces on the lid (one small hole on each side of the Have a Coke message).
Any information is much appreciated!
Model is the 6 case Master Ice by manufacturer Cavalier Corp., Chattanooga, Tennessee. You interpret the date code correctly. The cap catcher fits on either side. Many times these were placed along walls, so only one side was accessed. Or an additional cap catcher could be added for 2-sided vend.
This particular cooler was advertised by maker as "heavy gauge zinc-coated steel construction, baked enamel finish, zinc-coated or stainless steel tanks, thick glass-wool and celotex insulation, heavy duty rubber gaskets, concealed flexible drain hose, easy-to-open lids, strong durable hinges". Wow! ;0)
Yours looks like it was repainted at some point. Nice condition. An old beauty. Thanks for sharing.
I knew I came to the right place. Now I have some information to go on to figure out value. Thanks so much!
