I found this Dragon Carved Ivory Snuff Bottle at a local Estate sale. I probably overpaid for it, but I really liked the dragon carving on the front and the Chinese inscription on the back was an added plus. Any help on the intrepretation would be appreciated.
The snuff bottle measures 2 1/2 inches tall by 1 5/8ths inches wide and 1/2 inch from front to back. The bottle appears to have been carved out of one solid piece of real (cross hatched lined) ivory. There is a shallow surface crack on the front that travels from the top lip to the bottom edge. I do not know the interpretation of the chinese inscription on the back of the bottle, but i still like this snuff bottle.
