FAKE Ingersoll Who's Afraid Of The Big Bad Wolf Alarm & Pocket Watch (see comment #15 below).

On Kerry's post of his Who's Afraid Of The Big Bad Wolf alarm, he said I should re-post mine, so here it is. The alarm has a different case then shown on his.
The button on top of the alarm case, operates the on/off selector of the alarm. time & alarm are wound and set from the back.
The alarm dial & pocket watch dial is marked:
WHO'S AFRAID OF THE BIG BAD WOLF
Ingersoll
MADE IN U.S.A.
The serial number on the pocket watch dates the movement manufacture to 1933.
Kerry will let us know how correct these are.

There they are...Thanks Dave for reposting these. sadly the pocket watch is a fantasy piece, but is on a period correct movement, This dial configuration was never produced. The clock is correct dial style & hands, but wrong casing, appears to have been transplanted in another clock works. The oddity of the pocket watch is cool, in that the Ingersoll 1934 Big Bad Wolf- Three Little pigs series, all three timepieces have different graphics, the clocks has the wolf "chomping" as an animated feature, the pocket watch has a blinking eye as it's animated feature and final the wrist watch is totally different from either the clock or pocket watch. I will gather up all three and do quick post for your comparison Dave.

Yes Dave, that's what's so neat,,,,the amount of time to produce those hairy style hands/arms on the pw is incredible... Truly 1 of a kind and many-many man hours to make it.....very cool!!!!!

Very cool Kerry. My Bad Wolf's head does not move & it doesn't appear to be a two-piece head. Just looks like a painted on dial.

Dave, that means one thing.....Someone has taking an extremely painful task of reproducing a look-a-like BBW clock, out of some other style clock and home made the hairy arm hour and minute hands on this also. They must of really wanted an original 1-of-a-kind piece individualized for themselves. both watch and clock to match. extremely unusual for someone to do, unless totally dedicated to doing such a project.
GREAT Two One-Of-A-Kinds. Life is getting better!!! (LOL).
I guess I'll have to try and get the movement out & check the dial closely.

FAKE Ingersoll 'Who's Afraid Of The Big Bad Wolf" alarm clock & pocket watch!!!
It wasn't bad enough that someone made a fantasy pocket watch to mimic the alarm clock, they copied a fantasy alarm clock (LOL).
When something is manufactured that is a hit with the consumer, down the line, someone will copy it to try and cash in on the profits.
This can be seen if you look at my postings on, "infringements/evasions of the Rollin White/Smith & Wesson patent on the bored-through cylinder.
If I was a collector making purchases for an investment, this could be a disappointment, but I do not collect items for turning a profit. In fact, I don't sell anything. If you acquire something I have collected, it is because I gifted it to you for some reason and sometimes for no reason at all.
This morning, I took the movement out of the alarm clock, and as suspected, the dial is not a "nodder". If you look at the new #2 photo posted, you can see between the ear & the eye what appears to be the post for the head to nod when the seconds tick-away, but it is just painted on the paper dial.
When I acquired these pieces, they were purchased together as a pair. You say, "I bet he is really ticked off" ! Not at all, first, I have very little invested in both of these pieces. Second, someone really worked hard to deceive someone (me, as a buyer who just bought them because I liked them). They will go back in the cabinet, but now described as "infringements!" Sounds better than "faked".
I actively search out on infringements of the White & S&W patent firearms, but will curb my searches on "character watches & clocks". Not saying I won't in the future or haven't already purchased some just because I like them.
Heck, look at it this way, These BBW timepieces might be the "prototype" made prior to the manufacturing of the "real thing". (LOL)
Anyway this post has been fun for me, and thanks to "Professor Kerry" for all his input and education he gives us all.

Dave, just got back online after well deserved nap...lol and read your revised intro and the lengthy comment, I like the word infringement better also, or I use term "fantasy" item. All-n-all I still find these pieces total awesome with the amount of work involved to create this pair. You truly have a 1 of a kind set. These should have a special place to be displayed., right up front where they can be proudly displayed.
