SEE ALL PHOTOS--
They were selling just the shades--not the bases "because they are not in very good shape"--I ask "how much are the bases" she says " Ahhh...You can have them for $10" I say "Each?" She says no both". (I am thinking terrific and just in case I can afford the shades _Thinking NO WAY!_) "How much for the shades, " "Oh, I'd Have to have $20" she replies.. I ask "For both?" (My heart pounding in my ears real hard") "No each" she says--
GUESS WHAT I SAY!!!
The bases must have sat in a flood water for awhile, see the damage?
I wonder if should have a rewire and USE them in that condition with the shades and just remember the small token I paid for them. Or What--I suppose I might try to find a restorer of the enameled metal bases-, or a painter but I fear they would be terribly expensive to do... I mainly got the for the shades...OMG!!
I would definite try to have such beautiful pieces restored! Wonderful find for the price i'd pay that too. These are panel lamps from the 1930s. Love it.
THANKS robin56..I would love to do that! I was thinking they might be 1920s..but have no clue actually WHEN you could walk up to a table and turn on an ELECTRIC light and sit down a read the newspaper!!
I put on a big wall hanging tapestry a couple days ago, and replaced the lamps under it with these now--They were fated to belong together!
OOOPS--Had "lamps" on the mind!! I took the stuff from the table under the tapestry off and put these lamps there instead.
Stunning ! love the shades !!!
Good shot!
I would love trying patina on them!
Kyra--That may be the best way to go.
