Cypriot type "Lava" vases by Charles Lotton are some of the most sought-after pieces of his work. This early one is really cool, with a mottled print background, selenium red ground, and gold lava luster applied decoration and rim. Properly signed "Charles Lotton" and the year - 1978. The color when backlit really causes the piece to resemble its namesake - you can practically see the molten lava dripping from the furnace!
