My mother really wants more information about these vases.
She looked on the internet and went to an art dealer, but no information
She got them from her father before he died.
The lower two are 40 cm high and the one with the cover is 55 cm high.
There is a sign on the bottom of the vases (see picture)
These are hand painted (handgeschilderd) Delft ginger jars made in Holland. The number 1002A is the style/form number, and the bottom set of marks are typical for this particular artist. There are soooooo many Delft pieces here in the Netherlands that it is virtually impossible to know who made these unless the piece comes from an established artisan. Delft comes in a big variety of colors and designs. I have various kinds of Delft pottery and just about all of them have artist signatures. These pieces are beautiful!
I meant to write ginger jar and vases.....
The piece on the left is also known as an urn. This style and color combination is also referred to as Polychrome.
thanks for all the information
do you know how old it can be
Not really, no. Delft pottery can be very difficult to pin down, date wise. Does your mom remember seeing these when she was a child?
i did some research
the potteries are by Matthijs de Wit (Gouda)
he made Blue Delft and Gouda style pottery from 1961-2000
in the M. de Wit, Aardewerkfabriek
