I recently acquired these chairs and although I am sure that they are antiques I am not exactly sure of the era they are from , the style or the year they were manufactured?
I looked up the first one that is quite similar in look to the Morris Chair, but when I looked up the morris chair there were a lot of aspects that did not match up.
The last one is a fruit wood chair, but I am not sure which fruitwood it is.
Any information on these would be greatly appreciated as I would like to know more about them before I invest in refinishing them.
Thanks
Maz
How can you be sure they are antiques if you don't know what they are? Just asking.
Well because they were bought from families I know, and they had it passed down, but the family is now the new generation and it belonged to a great aunt, or great grandmother. They are vaguely familiar on say renaissance, victorian etc, but not entirely clear.
Oh and I also looked at the joints and the way the wood was finished etc. the springs and the hay/straw stuffing that was used. its all there, just that type and which era it is from is unclear and i havent had much luck locating the exact kind on the internet, so I hope this helps.
Thanks!
I appreciate the reply. I am sure someone here can give you information. You have given me new insight on how to identify an antique.
I hope so! :)
Max fhr is a expert on these things just so you know . You need to provide more photo's of joints and underside and close ups that would help . Welcome to CW :-)
Oh thank you...I will try and get this done. I just too these because I thought the style is what matters. This is all so new to me. I am artist by profession and this collection of antiques is a new and exciting venture for me.
Your welcome :-)
