Butler "Shock Absorber" 1881
My newest addition. This wire was pattented in 1881 by William W. Butler of Boise Idaho. It features a coiled wire barb that has a metal endcap.

Story I've heard about this wire is that Mr. Butler invented this wire and manufactured it while serving a term in Boise State Prison at Boise City, Idaho Territory.
GateKeeper, I hadn't heard that story but it bears looking into... I love research!!!
