I inherited this knife from my dad. From what I remember, he bought it at an antique store in London in the late 60s or early 70s.

He said the knife was a sailor's cutlass, or sabre that had broken and was ground down into this blade.

I'm not sure of the proper terminology, or its value. Any insight would be appreciated.

What is the dia. of the pommel end? You have nothing in the pix to give scale, but could be a "plug bayonet" that fits in the muzzle of a musket.

It is 13" tip to end.
The pommel is not circular, it is an uneven octagon. It's diameter varies, from 1.25" to 1.5".

So much for the plug bayonet idea! LOL!

Update from someone who seems to know what he is talking about:

It is not a broken cutlass or sabre, it is an old Tibetan or Buthanese dagger, probably early 19th century, laminated steel.

Nepalese or Bhutanese dagger, with missing metal scabbard and part of the handle. Old blade, as I mentioned before, looks laminate steel. Small target audience in collectors market. Price range: $100 to $150. Hard to sell.
