Here is a glass washboard that has been kicking around for years. I am not sure where it came from, but, once again, it was found in my parents' storage barn. I tried to research it and cannot come up with any National Washboard Co. No. 12. Does anyone know what the significance of the number is? I've come across a lot of 500 numbers but no double digits. I can tell by looking at it that the number has not been worn off. If anyone can help me identify or provide me with some information, it would be greatly appreciated. By the looks of the washboard, it has been used quite often in it's day!! Thanks! Linette
Here's a clearer version of mine - yours doesnt have the drain grooves and the closet I could find was the 512 - the backs are usuallly all worn because that was the "soapy" side. -- The glass one's are harder to find but they were basically the same as the metal ones were needed for war materials (1930's, 1940's)

Very interesting aghcollect. You have a great one!! You're right, mine does not have the drain grooves. On the other side (the back side, I assume) it does have a faint banner going across it. It looks as if it may have said something at one time, but there is no way I could make anything out. I am almost positive that the number is 12 and not 512 - because that number shows up perfectly. It does not show any signs of a number preceding the number 12.
Thank you so much for your help and research. It is truly appreciated and thank you for your love! :)
