Good day Fellow Collectors. When we talk about the first wristwatches, first thing you have to understand, They started off as a pocket watch. Someone had the idea they wanted to view their watch faster and easier than digging it out of either their vest or trouser pocket to tell the time. After a few "Home Made" adaptations, around the turn of the 20th century, several watch makers decided to produce something that could be worn on the wrist, most were marketed as Woman's Bracelet Watches, thus the title Wristwatch came about.
This is one of my oldest Woman's Bracelet Watch, produced by Waltham, circa 1899. If you notice the construction of this piece, it's merely a smaller frame pocket watch with a smaller tab 180 degrees from the crown & bow, where a bracelet would be attached.

This one is extremely interesting. Nice find! Your biker image has been totally destroyed in my mind. LOL. You will never regain it with me. I would send my best, but I'm not thru with her yet. Maybe later! LOL!!

Don't hang up Kerry! I was bluffing! OK! Hey, the dowry is supposed to come from my end. I'm the one giving away or trying to get rid of(actually!). I'll pay her ticket! You're a hard bargainer! Are you willing to pay her extra baggage fee if I poste her bail? Nice UK girl of undetermined age. Can send pix, but don't think CW will allow. If you like piercings, this is the one for you! I can throw in 3 goats (1 pregnant) but that comes under "your" extra baggage fees. I think Jet Blue may accept carrying them but can't guarantee carrying the girl. LOL!! Who has more fun than we? "This is based on a true story". LMFAO!!
LOL Lucas, I wouldn't hang up the phone during one of our conversations, unless lines were cut.... Might have to take up on the deal...like I said, just got rid of my goats.... the girl.....HMMMMMMMMM, might have to consider it a touch more, if you need to bail her out before sending, might have to pass, wouldn't want you to lose bail money on a "No Show" when she skips. LOL, I understand the notion of "True Story" and sure Paul Harvey might not release the "Rest" of the story :-)
If I drop the assault charges, I won't lose my bail money. LOL! Now, back to watches before staff slaps my mouse hand.

That gets a lot of older watches, the unlike metals and humidity seems to make for electralis type corrosion and movements are permanently damaged
Yup ... Trashed for sure ... I really do not think it was actually my grandmothers personal watch ... The most valuable things she had were her good cooking utensils, pots and pans ... and here italian pizzelle cookie press ...
The memories of her food seems to sparked a fond notion in your mind... The memories are always the greatest value of any treasure. Monetary items are nice, I guess, but to reflex on anything that brings forth a smile....is priceless
