This was my mother's vase. I do not know much about it but she always treasured it because she said that it was her great grandmother's vase and that it was the only thing that she had left to remember her by. We have always had it displayed in our house and I was wondering if someone might know more about the time period and type of glass it is. It is flecked with silver pieces which looked kind of white in the photo. I love the bright colors and abstract color pattern. It is about 13 inches tall and around 8 inches wide at its thickest point. Please let me know if you can tell me more about this piece. I do not know what category to place it in. Thank you.

      Hello, and Welcome to CW!

I think your vase should be in the Bohemian glass category under art glass. I believe it is Bohemian/Czech in origin. It is tough to tell for sure, but the combination of colors appears to be similar to the glass in the link below. The darker colors in this vase are more concentrated than the ones in the link, but they look like quite similar combinations of colors.

Great piece, and a fabulous size!!

Thank you so much. I think you are right. You have given me a place to start looking and for that, I am grateful. My vase is white on the inside like the pieces in your link. It does have a similar look. I will start researching Bohemian glass! If you think of anything else let me know and thanks again.

That is funny, even 5 years ago the suggested attributions were amusing, based on the spatter colors choice which did not match in application and fabrication of an example of Czech glass pieces......
I know we have seen this vase again, maybe in a more identifiable decor.

Good example, do you remember seeing another vase in this shape? I do, and probably on this site. Memory is failing me.
