I am an amateur collector of mainly blue & white transferware and I collected this along the way. Months and months of trawling the internet for more information regarding dates of manufacture etc came up every time with zero hits. I resulted in contacting the Spode trust for assistance and they reported back that they had never seen this pattern before and it was listed in the Spode pattern books they have in their possession . I would love to hear from anyone who also has any pieces of this Spode .
i too have some spode copeland plates marked "cecil" i picked them up from a yard sale 25 years ago and this is the first time i have found this pattern on the internet.i have 4 salad plates in the same pattern as your but my plates are white background with the edge pattern in blue.So am i too assume these plates are as rare as yours are?
Hi Limmers ,
Mine are also white and yes I have not yet found any other pieces and when I contacted the Spode society they stated they had never come across this pattern before but in their reply they gave me pattern number . I am thrilled to have had a reply regarding Spode Cecil pattern because as stated earlier I am yet to find any mention of it anywhere else . Treasure them . I collect early Spode and this dinner service I bought so very cheaply was to sell on but I cannot part with it now even though in pottery terms it's quite new being made in the beginning of the last century
