Tamiya 1/35th Scale Matilda II Tank

In WWII the British tank philosophy was to make two types of tanks, infantry and cruisers. The infantry tanks were slow such that infantry could keep up with them, also more heavily armored. Cruisers were lighter armored and designed for speed. It did not work out too well.
The Matilda was an infantry tank with a top speed of 16 mph. Still it was difficult for infantry to keep up under combat conditions. Rough ground, people shooting at them and all that.
At the beginning of WWII the Matilda was a pretty tough tank. It had 3 inch thick armor and the well rounded and sloped design enhanced i8ts protection. Good thing as it had a small gun and had to get close to other tanks to take them out. Went obsolete pretty quick.
This is another model I made in the 80s. Sadly the rear view mirrors have broken off. It has been through 6 moves so it isn't doing too bad.
