On My--This is sort of strange. Is it a joke--a rude one? Or would a black man send this to his girl for a chuckle. International Art card--Stamped, Cancelled 1909. front says c. 1906 (back is undivided. Mailed from N.Y. to Connecticut. A derogatory art form--but it is excellent art nonetheless, and signed M.GREINER.

I wonder what the significance of the mean looking dog is??
    4. PostCardCollector PostCardCollector, 9 years ago
Is that a "pit-bull"--or some other kind of Bull. I still don't know why is he looking so fierce on a VALENTINE??

Looks like a English Bull Dog! Nothing mean about him!

Bull dogs were one of the first novelty dogs people would have had in the modern era. They look ferocious but are really quite sweet.
As for the derogatory card, this was a popular novelty as well. Couples would go to a minstrel (blackface comedy) on a date. This probably would have been considered cute.
