Lovely silver and silver gilt necklace with rose quartz beads and a chalcedony set clasp, circa 1920-1925. Terrific detail on the panels, with grape vines and grapes on the front and grapes on the back. It’s 17.5 inches long and 1/3 of an inch wide.

While initially attributed to Sibyl Dunlop, it has been subsequently confirmed as Dorrie Nossiter. Thanks all!

It also has a look of Dorrie Nossiter, of course there was quite a few mix up with attribution between these two. Beautiful necklace, I love both Sybil Dunlop and Dorrie Nossiter.

Kyra, did Dorrie Nossiter ever sign her work? Great article on the mis-attributions. Thank you!

      Hi Bluboi :-)
I don't know for her signing her work, but perhaps Jewels1900 will !
The whole site I linked with the mis attribution is very interesting, and not too long to explore, I engage you to look at it thoroughly, it is full of infos :-)

Do you think the pink beads are original or have been added later to make it longer?

Hi Davy, Based on the findings, I believe the quartz beads are original.

Hello all. I am in London and was able to visit the Tadema Gallery today and meet Sonya and David Newell-Smith, the owners. What absolutely delightful people! So knowledgeable and what a wonderful collection of amazing jewelry! I had the opportunity to show these pictures and Sonya immediately said Dorrie Nossiter. she spent quite a bit of time talking about the mis-attributions for Sybil Dunlop as well as why this is a Nossiter piece. Specifically: the asymmetry, and on the clasp, the curled metal pieces and the metal "dots". She said that when they started to write about the differences between Dunlop and Nossiter, as well as comment on the wrong attributions, the families of both artists came forward to thank them.

I bought some amazing A&C pieces today from Tadema and van den Bosch. will post photos when I get home.

Thanks for your great information. I had a feeling your necklace was Dorrie Nossiter.

Yep, by now you've confirmed it's by Nossitor. You probably also know she never signed her work.

I look forward to seeing what new treasures you have!
