I found this machine at a thrift store in San Francisco. My mother had two Singer treadle cabinets in our house while I was growing up (alas without the machines in them) and so, despite a thick layer of dust, I just had to stop and look when I walked by. I think it's absolutely beautiful, and the 1940 Golden Gate Exposition tag gave it so much more personality that it had to come home with me.

However, I don't know much about Singer machines. Searching online, it looks like maybe it's a Singer 66? I've also seen some Featherweight 221s online with this Golden Gate Expo tag, but I haven't seen any 66s. It has all of the plugs and the foot pedal, though I haven't tried plugging it in to test it yet. No needle, and it seems to be missing a small plate underneath the foot.

Any information anyone can provide would be amazing! Could the cabinet (which I also love!) have been an original, or would the machine have been added to it later? Is it in fact a 66? The serial number starts with AF463... which seems to match up with 1940. I love it, but if I can figure out how to ship it to Massachusetts it might just become a great Christmas present for my mother!

Sure looks like a 66 to me. Serial number matches up with 1940. Do not see why that would not be the original cabinet, it wouldn't have had a treadle cabinet so that one seems correct.
As your mother liked the treadle I think she would rather have a treadle machine. Just a guess.

Hi; On the singer model & serial number web the cerial number looks to be a model 66-6 with the delux cabinet.

It is a Model 66-6 made in March 1940 and sent to the Fair to be sold from New Jersey.
Singer installed the special badges on a few of various models they hoped to sell at the fair. We have a Modle 201 and a Model 221 “Featherweight. Wish we had yours! It’s a fine example!
