We found 2 of these chairs at a yard sale. They appear to be teak and are very sturdy, heavy and well made. All dowel construction. They sit low and have a wide seat. We have been told they are of a design used in the sanitoriums or convalescent homes in the Adirondack region of NY state during the tuberculosis epidemics in the early 1900's. I love these chairs and would like to know if this is their story.
