I bought this off eBay and chose to keep it for myself. It is Kunzite set in 14K yellow gold with a 14K white gold chain. Unmarked but tested.
Unfortunately some facets are abraded and I believe the stone probably faded over the years although the trichroism is still obvious.
Just curious as to dating on this because white gold was not invented until c. 1920.
Any ideas?
Could the chain be a replacement?
Possibly but not likely as the setting of the small white stone between the kunzite stones is white also. Presumably white gold though honestly I haven't tested it. Thank you for you input!
Beautiful necklace! Rare to see kunzite! And I'm always pleased to see jewellery collector here ;-)
As Davyd, I don't feel the chain beeing the original one, (though it is of same era) because, even if the diamond is set in white, the gold color of the kunzite mount ask for a yellow gold chain to be harmonious. :-)
Kunzite was discovered by Georges Kunz in 1902, my feeling for your necklace is around 1915.
Thank you kyrantango, I originally thought c.1915 myself however the white gold threw me off. It is quite striking and I get a lot of compliments on it!
Beautiful necklace, I suppose dated around beginning Art Deco.
Thank you Agram.m! I got a wonderful deal on it too as the seller thought it was costume ;)
