This is what the sellers description of this brooch was.
Antique/Vintage? Brooch unknown what it is made from and unknown stones?
Please see pictures for style/design and for what's included is in good used/worn condition unknown age, and unknown what it is from? And is unmarked.
I've been watching this brooch since it was put on Ebay 7 days ago. There was a mad bidding rush at the end, which leads me to believe, hopefully this brooch was who I thought it was made by, Dorrie Nossiter. It would be great if some body would confirm this. The Style is so her, with her remarkable natural ability to combine different coloured stones, bezel and prong settings, swirls, and the neatness of the back, which is very similar to the back of Bernard Instones work.
Many thanks for looking.
You did well! It does look her work! But, as I said, I'm not the specialist of this era :-)
Certainly looks right, love the colurs
Score! Beautiful!
Many thanks kyra, Kiwipaul and BelleEpoque for giving me your opinion, I'll have more of a idea when I see it, but I did put in a lot of research and from the photos it does look to me that this brooch is Dorrie Nossiter.
Many thanks

OK Jean I've got good news & bad news for you. I feel I can tell you the bad news now because the good news is that this is Nossitor. Very nice score, I would love to have it in my collection.
The bad news is that your new opal brooch is not by Wager. The wire work around the outside is very similar to her work but the twist wire around the outside, the leaf & the setting are not.
Sorry to be a party pooper. I'm thinking though, that it was sold as Australian School, which it defiantly is.
Hi Jewels1900,
thanks for passing by and being the barer of good news and bad news lol. I can live with Australian School, it really is a very pretty well constructed brooch. But what is more exciting news for me is this is Dorrie Nossiter, I'd been watching this on Ebay for a week, as soon as I saw the brooch I knew it was her, so I can see straight away Dorries is work but I'm not very lucky with Rhoda Wagers work, oh well I'll keep my eyes open, hopefully I will get a piece of Rhoda's work in the end. Thanks again for your help.
This really is a cracker Jean. I'd be very excited to own it.
Wager is very hard to buy, even though she was so prolific. I used to buy & sell her rings because I'd find them but I've been loath to do so in that last 5 years because they are becoming so much harder to find.
I did buy 2 pairs of Dorothy's earrings last year but I think that was it. (Mind you, that's not bad!).
I now have a brooch, earrings and a bracelet. I'll keep my eyes out for more. I love the way she uses different stones, shape of the stones, her settings and fantastic use of colour.
Many thanks
