In June I found a stunning Loetz Arcadia vase on Ebay and was very happy to be the highest bidder. I anxiously waited for it to arrive but it did not. I contacted the seller and after a few days I was told that the parcel had gone missing and the seller didn't have a track & trace number. A week later the seller informed me that the parcel had been found but that the vase itself was shattered. I did get my money back - minus 22 euros shipping costs, but I had some doubts as to the truth of the story, so I pressed the seller for a picture of the vase. And there it was, my beautiful Arcadia, shattered to pieces. What a terrible shame.
Sad......
Sorry...
Sympathy.....

Sorry to hear that Laura. I know how excited we all get to receive our next "new" piece, and to have that happen is so heartbreaking.
Thank you Rick55. It is heartbreaking. I know it is nothing compared to all the bad things happening in the world but when you're counting down the days for it to arrive and instead of receiving it you get a picture like this, it is just very sad.
It always upsets me when something which has survived for 115 years is treated so carelessly that it gets damaged or destroyed, and the seller often says "it's OK, it's insured", as if that makes everything better. We are all just temporary caretakers of the glass, and should always remember the sweat and labor that the artists went through to create it, and treat it with the deserved care and respect.
Thank you dlfd911. You are absolutely right.
It pains me to see this broken, I've never seen such a lovely Arcadia rose bowl, what a loss of a beautiful treasure :(
I fell in love with it the moment I laid my eyes on it, Project_Harrach.
Those darn French and their paper thin boxes :(
Oui, c'est très regrettable, Yesterdaysglass
