This spoon is from my family. I'm wondering if any of you know anything about it. From what I could research on my own, Tiffany & Co imported silver from Europe between 1847-1851, which would explain the "France" marking. I can not find an example like this anywhere. Is it very rare? Any idea of value? Thanks!! - Laura
From the CW Tiffany page: "Tiffany began selling silverware in 1847, most of which was produced in Europe. Shortly thereafter, German-trained designer Gustav Herter was hired to execute Tiffany products in New York, and in 1851, renowned American silversmith Edward C. Moore, Jr. was added to the firm."
So yes, they did (and still do) sell items of quality that they did not manufacture but bear their mark.

Yes, thanks. That is the same information I found, as well. I'm curious if anyone knows how rare a Tiffany spoon of this age might be, since I could find no examples online of Tiffany spoons marked France. Thanks!!
