You seldom see the fairy lamps produced by Hobbs Brockunier very often. There were two designs that I am aware of, the Firefly and the Acorn. Both designs were introduced in 1887 in a small selection of colors.
To not infringe of Clarke's patented design, Hobbs designed a different method to allow air into the lamp to permit the candle to burn. The lamp cup had small dimple feet and a hole in the bottom center of the cup. The candle cup also had small dimple feet that allowed the candle cup to rest directly over the hole with blocking the air flow. It is unusual to find the lamps complete with the candle cup. Once the candle cup is separated form the lamp, it is difficult to recognize ir for what it is.
If anyone has information on other candle lamps produced by Hobbs, I would like to hear about it.
