Does anyone have an idea on when this type bottle opener was used? I have no idea when it came into my hands, all I know is that its been keeping Coach Paul "Bear" Bryant 315th Commemorative Coke bottle company for years. Any help will be appreciated.

Is That A Bottle Opener Or A Old Capper?
    2. YardSaleMama YardSaleMama, 14 years ago
      DMK678,
Well, I was always told it was a bottle opener, but your idea about it makes more sense to me, hmmmm, I better look up old bottle cappers. Thanks for getting my mind in gear.

      DMK678,
No doubt in my mind, after a couple of minutes of searching for antique bottle cappers, you hit the nail on the head or should I say, you put the "THE CAP ON THE BOTTLE" .
Thanks for the help and nice meeting you,

      yep definitely a capper
i saw one when i worked for Miller, they had one in the old plank road brewery.
without knowing the maker, that type capper could have been used in production from the 1800's till 1930's or so, and is still used by many a home brewer. With a metal base probably the 1900's
now they have machines that can cap around 2000 bottles a min. i've been out a while so maybe faster now
one similar to yours with a wood base on ebay
