This is an opium lamp that my friend got from her father.it is 14 inches tall and there is no glass and it is empty inside, so whatever held the opium is gone. She has a pair. She would like to know how old they are, she said he got them around 1944 when he was in the merchant nmarines.
    Thanks.

Looks Japanese but its not a opium lamp they are general smaller with a glass chimney because you would heat the opium up to melt to make small pill shape that would be put into the pipe. Incense burner or a oil lamp for a alter or temple. If the dragon has 3 toes it would be Japanese 4 it is Korean and 5 Chinese. Even without seeing the toes it looks Japanese in origin. Are they marked on the bottom?
