Very large-FINE WOOL, could be a rug or large throw-in excellent condition--My mother valued it so much, it was never used in the house--only taken out to show it to someone. (Phoenix,AZ.) Can anyone recognize this? ***YOU CAN ENLARGE 2 TIMES***

Not Native American Indian, it's Mexican...a Saltillo blanket, named for the region of Mexico where this design pattern originated.

It figures...Mom was not far from Mexico when visiting Patagonia, AZ where my she had good friends and they DID take trips into Mexico in the 1950s. Thanks for letting me know.

this is a very beautiful serape - mid-century - w/ a huge ojo de dios [eye of god] center. i have some similar ones - same colors too. i really like the ones w/ the light blue backgrounds. there is a lot of mystery about their origin. they definitely do have native american elements, but they also have a history which is tied to the big landowners who are very proud of their Spanish ancestry. here's one short article about them: http://www.smithsonianmag.com/arts-culture/latin-americas-wrap-for-all-seasons-112403979/?no-ist

Thanks for the link, ho2cultcha, interesting article. I have a Saltillo from my grandfather, who actually had more but God knows where they went. I am happy to have at least kept one. :)
