Looks like Milkglass. Signed on Rim Baccarat FRANCE. Very Heavy thick gilt decoration as shown. Repeating crowns and only one N. Globe is about the size of a basket ball. Has a metal rim on the top to finish the look of the glass and protect it from chipping if the glass flue bumps. Would like to know for what purpose or entity this globe was made. Is it a production piece to celebrate some event relating to Napoleon? Was it made for a commercial venue relating to Napoleon? However, the shape of the crown is very similar to that on Czar Nicholas, coronated 1886. Russia was a huge client of Baccarat in 19th century. Was this made for the Russian court? I am waiting to hear back from the Baccarat museum in FR. Would appreciate any help from collectors who may have resources to baccarat inventory lists or catalogues.
The N may stand for Napoleon as Baccarat made several items with the Napoleonic theme. Here is one such lamp: https://www.liveauctioneers.com/item/28191076_a-louis-xv-style-gilt-and-patinated-bronze-oil-lamp
I hope this helps some.
The base looks very much to be 20th century as does the globe. Possibly 1960.
