I toured this ship in the late 60s while I was in a Scout group. We all got a copy of the photo and the pamphlet. Sadly the only thing I recall is sitting on the right hand seat a forward 3" guns and pointing it at the other ships. A sailor on one of the other ships asked if we had permission to do that and I lied and said yes.
The ship was commissioned January 1944. It was training ship when I toured it and remained so until after 1969. After that don't know what happened to it.
It did suffer a bit of ignominy in the Korean War when having a duel with a shore battery. Support was called from the Canadian destroyer Iroquois. The Marsh withdrew and did not fire. The Iroquois took a hit and suffered casualties because the guns were not fully enclosed, they were open in back.
In defense of the Marsh I will say the guns were not enclosed at all with no armor. And only 3 shorter ranged and less powerful guns. The Iroquois had 6 4.7" guns.
Other details can be seen on the scans of the pamphlet. Last photo is it in a new frame in the hall of arms and armor.
